ANN ARBOR, MI — One person was injured in a shooting on Tuesday in Ann Arbor, according to police.

Ann Arbor police were called to Planet Fitness, 2350 W. Stadium Boulevard, around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, for reports of a shooting, according to spokesperson Chris Page. One person was shot, with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

One person is in custody, and there is currently no danger to the community, police said.

At the scene, police could be seen investigating and photographing a gray Jeep. A large portion of the parking lot and around the gym’s entrance was cordoned off.

Tracy Lazar, of Belleville, was working from a neighboring restaurant at the time of the shooting. She initially thought there had been some sort of small fight, but dismissed the idea when she saw police response.

“Too big of a response for that,” Lazar said.

The ages of both the victim and the suspect are not yet known, Page said.

The gym was closed immediately following the shooing. It is unclear when it will reopen.
