Netflix has just released the trailer for Dolemite Is My Name, with Eddie Murphy back in the non PG movie route for the first time in years. Dolemite Is My Name looks to be a brash, crude, and unapologetically funny ride. Along for the ride is the star-studded cast of Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Titus Burgess, Keegan-Michael Key and Wesley Snipes.

Dolemite Is My Name is a biopic of real-life legend Rudy Ray Moore, a comedy and rap pioneer who overcame shut doors and rejections, sticking it to his naysayers when his hilarious, obscene, kung-fu fighting alter ego, Dolemite, became a 1970s phenomenon. Netflix is really hitting it out of the park with biopics lately, with Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman waiting in the wings to premiere at the New York Film Festival.

Scripted by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, the same writers who penned The People V. O.J. Simpson, and directed by Craig Brewer (Black Snake Moan), the movie will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month before heading to Netflix after. As much as I love Netflix, this really is a movie you should catch on the big screen, to pay proper homage to the legacy of Rudy Ray Moore. There is no release date for the movie on Netflix, but we should see it sometime in the fall of this year.
