The Voice is getting ready to premiere season 24, but fans are already missing someone who was a key player from the very beginning.
In a teaser posted on the NBC competition series’ Instagram, folks got to see a glimpse at coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani and John Legend posing for a new promo. As the foursome stand together alongside two tour buses, the show gave their viewers an idea of what season 24 will look like for the first time without veteran mentor (and Gwen’s husband) Blake Shelton in the mix.
“Reba, Niall, Gwen, and John are taking the reins 9/25 on @nbc and streaming on @peacock. 🐴,” read the official caption from September 6.
While people were thrilled to see the famous quartet come together, some were still yearning to see Blake back on their screens once more. As a result, they took to the comments to voice how sad they were that he’s no longer part of the show.
“It ain’t the same without Team Blake 😢,” one person wrote on Instagram. “Not the same without Blake 😢,” another added. “Can’t wait for season to begin!! Will miss Blake but [you] guys rock,” a different viewer remarked.
As fans may remember, Blake was one of the original four coaches back in 2011. After appearing on the series (and winning multiple times) for more than a decade, he announced in October 2022 that he would step away after season 23.
Despite no longer being on The Voice, this doesn’t mean Blake won’t be back on TV. In early March, he revealed on Instagram that his hit USA Network series Barmageddon (which he co-hosts with Carson Daly and Nikki Garcia) would be back for more hijinks and bar games with a season 2 renewal. While it’s unclear when the show will be back on the air, at least we know we’ll see a familiar face soon.
Who knows, with Gwen being a coach in season 24 and needing an advisor for the Battle rounds, may be fans will be lucky enough to see Blake back on the Voice…
