What are the best Assassin’s Creed Valhalla mods?
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a gorgeous game with a huge open world and a well-written story that revolves around a great protagonist.
However, like every game ever made, there is still room for improvement, which is where the modding community comes in.
Modders have been hard at work tweaking this game, and today we’re looking at the best Nexus has to offer!
The 10 Best Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mods
There are many mods for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but not all of them stand out as game-changers.
While creating this list, we chose mods based on their ratings, number of downloads, and how they improve gameplay.
So, before you pillage your next monastery, take a break with our list of the 10 best Assassin’s Creed Valhalla mods:
10. Weapon Mesh Swaps
Kicking off our list, we have Weapon Mesh Swap by modder Rider735, which changes the appearance of weapons, but not their stats.
Every type of weapon is covered with this mod, and it allows you to change its appearance to some beautifully crafted alternatives.
There are a ton of alternate appearances, both historical and fantasy inspired, and they all look absolutely amazing.
A majority of these meshes are actually taken from in-game NPC weapons, so if you’ve seen someone wielding an awesome sword, you can have it yourself!
Now, you can run around one of the best sandbox games with some seriously impressive weaponry, and it really is spectacular.
This mod really adds a ton more variety that the vanilla game was lacking in terms of weapon choices!
9. Robesfree
You know that side quest where you meet the nudists in the woods, but the game still forces them into underclothes? Yeah, this mod fixes all of that!
With this mod, you have the option to get rid of Eivor’s underclothes, and it also affects many NPCs as well.
For example, the Nudist camp, Winchell the Robefree, Modron, Pict women, some Jotun women, and your Jorsvikings.
There are also options to strip down basically anyone you want, which can be absolutely hilarious throughout the game!
With this mod, Eivor of any gender can show off their sick chest tattoos without any pesky wrappings getting in the way.
As an aside, don’t expect to see anything below the belt, since Ubisoft didn’t model anything like Cyberpunk 2077 did!
8. Eivor Enhanced Muscles
Eivor already boasts an impressive physique in Valhalla, but this mod gives you the ability to make them absolutely jacked!
While the vanilla game gives Eivor a more realistic body type, this mod makes it so you can really emphasize all of their muscles!
Now they can really look like the reincarnation of a god, with washboard abs that would make any bodybuilder jealous.
However, what we really love about this mod is that it’s not extremely over the top and still remains in the realm of believable.
Instead of looking like one of the strongest anime characters, Eivor instead looks like they definitely have been working out.
This makes sense, since Eivor always has to climb huge obstacles, fight all manner of creatures, and row rafts across rivers.
We definitely enjoy being able to make Evior look like they’ve been bench-pressing Dag, and this has now become a must-have on our mod list!
7. New Game Plus Save (Perfect Start)
So this mod by Alexhercer is something we’ve been wanting for a long time, especially since finishing absolutely everything in the game!
As the name suggests, this mod allows you to skip all of the leveling up and start with all obtainable abilities, armor, and weapons.
This is kind of like how Assassin’s Creed Odyssey allows you to start a new game with all of your abilities after finishing your first playthrough.
Literally, one of the best reasons for replaying a new Assassin’s Creed game is New Game Plus, and both Origins and Odyssey featured it.
Unfortunately, Valhalla has no New Game Plus, and Ubisoft has no plans to add one, which can make replaying the game a bit of a slog.
Once you’ve unlocked everything and maxed out your character, the last thing you want to do is start from scratch!
Fortunately, this mod allows you to be a powerhouse from day one, and if you increase the difficulty, you can still make everything very balanced.
Plus, you can choose what to make use of, so it’s not like the mod forces you to unlock everything from the get-go.
Instead, New Game Plus Save allows you to recreate your previous character and pick up from the beginning.
While this mod won’t be for everyone, it is definitely great if you want to go through the game with all of the end-game goodies!
6. The Wanderer’s Tale
The Wanderer’s Tale is a cinematic reshader that was designed to make Valhalla look a bit more like the TV show Vikings.
This mod really makes it feel like you’re playing through a movie with a much gritter tone, and it really makes Valhalla stand out.
Everything has been overhauled, including the lighting, contrast, clarity, and sharpness, while a film grain effect and vignette are added.
We love that everything looks a bit bleaker, which makes sense as the Viking incursions are in full swing in England!
There is a distinctive gloominess now that is a far cry from the colorful world that Ubisoft initially created, and it’s truly stunning.
It definitely adds a unique atmosphere to the game that isn’t overbearing or out of place in the story being told.
While we weren’t 100% on the vignette effect at first, we came to enjoy it, though it can be toggled off using the hotkey.
If you want a darker, more foreboding gameplay experience, this reshader is perfect, and we highly recommend giving it a try!
5. Hide This…
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the best PS5 RPG games, but yet it lacks a lot of customization options.
Hide This is a simple mod, but it’s one that we’ve quickly fallen in love with because it allows you to hide a ton of things you might not want to see.
For instance, when you have an insured sheath on your back, this mod can hide it so Eivor isn’t running around with a useless accessory.
It also hides many of the masks that come with various armor sets because, let’s face it, the masks look extremely wonky.
This mod can also hide the Mary Lwyd’s disguise, your hidden blade, and the finisher axe so that you’re not stuck seeing them on your character.
While these aren’t game-changing fixes, if you’re a bit nit-picky about details like we are and want more customization, it’s amazing.
We definitely wish Ubisoft would have included more options to hide things in the base game, though this mod does the job perfectly!
4. Remove Startup Logos
When booting up this game, it takes about 30 seconds to go through all of the startup logos and autosave videos.
However, once you’ve seen these, you really don’t need to see them again, and they can get really repetitive.
Let’s face it, every time the game is loading, you’re probably sitting there jabbing the enter key, trying in vain to make it go faster!
Fortunately, this mod fixes this, albeit minor, inconvenience by loading you straight to the start screen without having to hammer any buttons.
Now, when you get the urge to go raiding, you won’t have to wait around to stare unenthusiastically at the Ubisoft, Ryzen, and Anvil logos.
We get it; the game is great. Thanks, guys! But, seriously, we just want to get to the assassination and pillaging!
3. Color Correction
Color Correction by Se1y is another reshader, but instead of going for a gritty, cinematic look, it aims to create a more realistic world!
What his mod does is provide a more natural and desaturated look to the game without absolutely destroying your FPS.
There are three versions of this mod, one that dips FPS by 0-1, the other by 1-3, and the biggest, which can cause a loss of 3-6 FPS.
The smallest version of this mod only tackles color correction and isolation, while the mid-tier adds film grain and sharpening as well.
Meanwhile, the XL version covers bloom, letterboxing, vignette, and all of the above, which is why it can cause a larger FPS impact.
However, the hit to FPS, even from the biggest corrections, is minimal at best, and you often won’t even be able to tell the difference.
What we really love about this mod is that it desaturates the world to be less vivid but not in a way that makes things look gloomy.
When comparing the game with this mod to the best open-world PS5 games, it definitely makes the world stand out a lot more.
If you want to add a touch more realism to this Viking age tale, this is one reshader you certainly can’t pass up!
2. Fix Cutscenes Ultrawide
While a majority of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is told through encounters experienced in the open world, many major events take place in cutscenes.
Unfortunately, if you’re playing on an ultrawide monitor, these scenes can often leave you holding the short end of the stick.
Thankfully, this mod allows cutscenes to take advantage of wider monitors by providing a series of new resolutions.
For those with 21:9 monitors, there are 5 resolutions to choose from, starting with 2560×1080 and going up to 6880×2880.
Likewise, there are three resolutions for 32:9 monitors, ranging from 3840×1080 to 5120×1440, allowing you to fill your visual space.
This mod also improves the visual fidelity of these resolutions so that they don’t look out of place or lackluster compared to the vanilla options.
Now, you won’t have to be limited by those terrible black bars around your cutscenes, limiting what you’re able to see.
Trust us, once you see this mod in action for yourself, you’ll wonder how you ever played without it!
1. Eivor Customizer
AC: Valhalla is easily one of the best PS4 RPG games, but it never gives you the option to customize Eivor in any meaningful way!
Fortunately, mod creator Hypermorphic has created this customization mod that allows you to completely alter the way Eivor looks.
With this mod, you can choose from a ton of hairstyle options that were previously not available, as well as unique hair colors.
You can also change Eivor’s skin color and eye color while choosing from facial presets, which are versatile and can scale to different bodies and hairstyles.
Body proportions can also be tweaked, including body scale, upper body scale, arms, legs, shoulder width, hip width, arm length, and neck length.
We pushed this mod to its limits, and let us tell you, you can make some awesome characters or some truly bizarre-looking mutants!
While female Eivor is canon, this mod doesn’t skimp out on options for either gender, allowing you to really get creative with whoever you play as!
The only real issue is that absurd changes to certain proportions can bug out some animations, but only to the point that they’ll look funny.
That said, most custom characters will have little to no impact on gameplay other than looking distinct from their vanilla counterpart!
Summary
We hope you enjoyed our list of the 10 best Assassin’s Creed Valhalla mods and found some to try out during your next playthrough!
Valhalla is a huge game, and it has a lot to offer. However, we really think these mods help make it even better.
