10. Custom UI Color Pack

Kicking off our list is a mod that aims to make your next playthrough of Doom Eternal a little more colorful!

This Custom UI Color Pack compiles a ton of different color schemes into a single mod, and the results are really awesome.

Once installed and you’ve chosen the custom UI colors you want, everything will be changed to them, including the main menu, player menu, and HUD.

These color schemes really help make your UI stand out a lot more, and our personal favorite is Immora, which changes things to red and yellow.

Of course, the rainbow color scheme is also really vibrant, and there are plain color options such as violet, pink, blue, and red if you’d rather have a single color.

If you’re the type of person who is always changing their HUD colors when playing the best Fallout games, you’ll definitely want to check out this mod!

 

9. Anvil Maykr

The Fallen Angel skin is one of the most popular in the game, but what if we told you it could look even better?

Well, this mod adds an improved texture to the skin, and it changes the mask from red to grey with a single glowing red eye.

This mod doesn’t leave out any details either, and even the metal toothy grin on the mask remains, but everything has been made much sharper.

There are even two variants of this skin, one that is just the armor and the other that animates dancing flames around the mask.

Basically, that version turns you into the Doom Slayer version of Ghost Rider, and we are absolutely obsessed.

While this is just a cosmetic mod that doesn’t impact gameplay at all, it certainly makes us feel like a major badass.

If you want your Doom Slayer to look like they’ve just stepped out of the depths of hell to drag everyone back down with them, this is the mod for you!

 

8. Demons 2016

Doom 2016 was a fantastic game, and this mod makes it so you can find some familiar faces while playing Eternal.

If the name didn’t give it away, what this mod does is add some demons in the style of the 2016 game.

Some of the demons you can look forward to seeing include Imps, Prowlers, Revenants, Zombies, Barons of Hell, and many more!

While this mod uses the same AI as the base game, it adds new textures and models for all of these demons, really making them stand out.

This mod is a great way to keep things fresh yet nostalgic, especially if you really enjoyed the 2016 game and its demon designs!

This isn’t to say that Doom Eternal doesn’t have great vanilla demons, but rather, sometimes it’s nice to spice up the appearance of the demonic hoards you’re fighting!

 

7. Super Slayer Overhaul

Even if you’re new to the Doom franchise, it should come as no surprise that the Doom Slayer is pretty damn powerful!

However, this mod overhauls the Slayer’s mechanics to make them even more impressive, so you can cleave through demons like a scythe through wheat.

Some of the things this mod does are increase movement speed and weapon switching by 20% while reducing recoil and increasing weapon fire rates.

Similarly, Slayers can get more ammo for pickups, load weapons quicker, and benefit from increased frag, ice, and sticky bomb radiuses.

Moreover, the Speed Boost Glory Kill rune has its duration increased, while the Chrono Strike runes cooldown has been reduced to 5 seconds.

Making things even better, the mod’s creator, k0v3rt, has created the Equip All Runes mod, which does exactly what it says.

When coupled with the rune overhauls from Super Slayer, this can make you an absolute beast that all demons will quickly learn to fear!

 

6. DoEt Cel-Shader

Borderlands 3 is one of the best multiplayer PS5 games, and it stands out thanks to its distinct cel-shaded art style.

Well, now this art style has come to Doom Eternal, and it is glorious! Seriously, we love the way this mod looks, and it really makes the environment pop.

While cel-shading is most associated with games like Borderlands, it works extremely well with the Doom Eternal world.

The demons, the bulky weaponry, and the bloody messes of viscera really work with this style, and it adds a very 90s comic book-type feeling.

Even if you’re not usually a fan of cel-shading, it’s worth trying out this mod because you may be pleasantly surprised by how good it looks.

It really makes the entire game look a lot crisper and more defined, which is definitely something we enjoy!

 

5. Carmack’s Eternal ReShade

Speaking of new aesthetics, Doom Eternal may not be one of the most graphically demanding PC games, but this reshader certainly makes it look the part!  

If cel-shading isn’t for you, but you still want to make the game come to life, look no further than Carmack’s Eternal ReShade.

This mod is simply amazing, and it really adds so much more depth to the environments and characters in Doom Eternal.

What this reshader does is add a new level of depth, new colors, and new graphical effects on top of the already impressive vanilla visuals.

It gets rid of the slight grey filter that permeates most of the game and increases the contrast to make even the smallest details sharper.

However, this mod doesn’t stray too far from the vanilla visuals, so it’s a good choice for people who want to enhance what the game already has.

Carmack’s Eternal ReShade does just enough to help the game come to life without making it feel like a complete overhaul!

 

4. Enemy Randomizer

One of the things that makes replaying Doom Eternal feel a bit stale is knowing where all of the enemies are, so you can prepare.

If this is what’s stopping you from picking up the game again, well, you’re in for a real treat with this mod!

As you may have guessed from the name, this mod randomizes all of the enemies in the base game and DLC!

This even extends to slayer gates and secret encounters, so you will really never know what to expect next.

Best of all, this isn’t just a one-time randomizer either. Instead, every time you start a game or reload a checkpoint or secret encounter, the enemies will be reshuffled.

So, if you die and get sent back to a checkpoint, you may not even end up facing the same foe again, which could either be good or really bad.

The Enemy Randomizer mod is one of the best ways you can make a new playthrough more challenging, and it certainly keeps things interesting!

We would also recommend using the Enemy Randomizer mod alongside the Super Slayer Overhaul mod, as they really complement each other well.

Plus, being a bit more powerful can come in handy when you never know what you’re going to be fighting next!

 

3. Particles 9000

Doom Eternal has some impressive particle effects that rival even the best PS5-exclusive games with how well they’re rendered.

However, if you thought the vanilla effects were stunning, just wait until you get a load of what this mod can do!

Particles 9000 increases the duration and number of particle effects generated by the player’s weapons and explosions.

Everything about these effects has been increased 4x over to make them bolder, brighter, and much, much better!

Seriously, this mod makes firing your weapons feel like the 4th of July, and the results are some of the best we’ve seen in any game!

We highly recommend giving this mod a look if you want to crank up the particle effect to the maximum and watch the sparks fly!

 

2. Keep The Dead – Eternal Edition

Okay, so Mighty Doom has proved to be an incredibly successful mobile game, but it still lacks one of the best things about Doom; the blood and gore.

Doom is a notoriously gore-filled game, and this mod aims to keep all of the corpses, blood, and fleshy giblets around for much longer.

Along with making sure that every combat zone looks like a deranged butcher’s shop, this mod also provides bigger blood decals and bigger blood spurts!

Blood decals will also stay on screen permanently, so you can literally wear the blood of your enemies with pride.

Moreover, this mod adds more blood particles that last a bit longer and bloody skins for all default weapons as well as the Praetor Suit.

The only real downside we could think of with this mod is that it could cause FPS problems on low-end PCs.

This is because the more bodies and giblets that are on screen, the harder your computer will have to work to render it all.

If too many bodies build up, you could start to see some framerate drops, though we didn’t encounter many issues when testing this mod out.

That said, it’s definitely worth trying this mod out for yourself because, oh boy, it is freaking awesome and really nails the classic Doom vibe.

 

1. Horde Mode

Doom Eternal may be one of the best Doom games ever made, but Horde Mode is a mode that manages to make it even better.

What this mod does is add a brand-new game mode that will challenge all of your skills in a series of epic rounds.

In Horde Mode, gameplay takes place over the course of various rounds, with each being progressively more difficult than the last.

When starting off the first round, all players will have is a shotgun with two weapon mods, and that’s all.

After each round, players will earn weapon points, mods, suit points, runes, blood punch upgrades, extra lives, and more.

If, and only if, you manage to become a fully-loaded Slayer, will the final round take place, which will test your skills unlike anything else in the game!

All of the rounds take place in different locations, but some have been heavily modified from their vanilla counterparts.

Horde Mode has also been carefully balanced to be challenging but not completely unbeatable if you’re willing to work at it.

Speaking of which, when you do get through it, there is a special ending cutscene that we found to be really neat.

Horde Mode is by far the best Doom Eternal mod you can download right now, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly!
