Chelsea Football Club was reportedly demanding an additional £15 million in order to allow a 23-year-old player to depart from the club. The player’s desired exit was requested yesterday..
A £15m difference in valuation between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur stopped Conor Gallagher from moving to the north London club on deadline day.
That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Tottenham were keen on Conor Gallagher, but Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that a deal did not happen because Chelsea wanted £50m for the midfielder, while their London rivals valued him at £35m.
Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to be disappointed that Gallagher is staying at Stamford Bridge, though.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference before Chelsea’s game against Nottingham Forest this afternoon, the Argentine told the Blues’ official website and the media: “We hope he stays with us.”
Will Tottenham come back in for Conor Gallagher?
They could try again in January, where they may have a better chance of landing Gallagher.
If the 23-year-old does not get much game time between now and the 2024 winter transfer window, it would not be a shock if he pushed for a move, especially with the Euros taking place next summer.

And given that Chelsea have signed Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, the above certainly is a possibility.
For now, though, Gallagher is likely to continue to get minutes, with Lavia not fit enough to play for his new club yet.
Pochettino clearly likes the England international, using him in all four of Chelsea’s games so far this season. He even captained the Blues last time out in their 2-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the Carabao Cup, showing that Pochettino trusts the player and is ready to give him responsibility.
