“I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike,” Viola told Deadline in a statement. “I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA and the WGA.”
G20 follows American President Taylor Sutton, played by Viola, navigating a terrorist attack at the G20 Summit. The character is subsequently forced to rely on all her statecraft and military experience to defend her family, fellow leaders and the rest of the world.
SAG-AFTRA shared on Friday that the guild had approved G20‘s waiver – despite the involvement of Amazon Studios – because the project is being spearheaded by MRC, which is not affiliated with the AMPTP. The actors guild has handed out more than 100 interim agreements in total since the strike began.
