Emilia Clarke’s latest film, “Last Christmas,” seems set to spread holiday cheer. The romantic-comedy, inspired by the classic Wham! song, follows the story of Kate, played by Clarke, as she navigates love and friendship during the festive season in London. With an all-star cast and a heartwarming plot, the movie promises to be a delightful watch for audiences. Clarke, previously known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in “Game of Thrones,” brings charm and charisma to her character, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film. “Last Christmas” appears poised to bring joy and laughter to viewers worldwide..
The official trailer for Paul Feig’s new movie Last Christmas just dropped, and while the trailer feels a tad long, it looks just like how you would expect a Christmas movie to be: heartwarming and sickly sweet (Christmas isn’t here yet, so my heart still remains firmly Grinch-like).
After Clarke’s character went through a near-death experience, she finds it hard to start living life again, because she’s scared that once she begins, she might lose it. Clarke herself has gone through some near-death scares, having survived two brain aneurysms, so it seems serendipitous to find her on a project like this one. After receiving encouragement from those around her, she begins volunteering at the homeless shelter, and embraces the spirit of Christmas.
It’s good to see Emilia Clarke portray something else besides a mad queen, and the world of comedy suits her warm personality. Henry Golding plays her apparent love interest. I say apparent because there seems to be a bit of mystery surrounding his appearance. This is a Christmas movie so he might turn out to be an angel or something. This is Golding’s second movie with director Paul Feig, having worked on A Simple Favor before this. Last Christmas also stars Michelle Yeoh and Dame Emma Thompson.
The movie will also feature music from George Michael (hence the title), giving us not just his classic hits but some never released music as well. Last Christmas will be released on November 8th, 2019, so we won’t need to wait till Christmas to catch it.
