Netflix has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming film, The King, featuring Timothée Chalamet as King Henry V. The one-minute trailer showcases Chalamet’s transformation into the iconic English monarch, as he delivers an intense and powerful performance. The film, directed by David Michôd, follows the turbulent journey of a young Prince Hal who must navigate political unrest and war as he ascends the throne. With stunning visuals and a captivating storyline, The King promises to be a must-watch historical drama that will transport viewers back to medieval England..
The teaser trailer for Netflix’s Shakespearean epic The King was just released, featuring a star-studded cast led by Timothée Chalamet (the man is certainly slaying the bowl haircut he’s sporting). The King is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Henry IV (both part 1 and 2) as well as Henry V.
Chalamet plays a prince who initially gave up the royal life, but then is forced back into it after his father’s death, therefore taking on the title of King Henry V, having to deal with the chaos his father left behind. Chalamet first made a name for himself in the movie Call Me By Your Name, which won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, also earning Chalamet his first Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category.
Chalamet is joined by the likes of Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn (who make a brief appearance as King Henry IV), Robert Pattinson and Lily-Rose Depp. Edgerton co-wrote the script with director David Michôd. This is Michôd and Edgerton’s third film together, with the first two being Animal Kingdom and The Rover (Edgerton only starred in the former and didn’t have any writing credits).
The King will make its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, with other Netflix films such as Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat set to make their debut at the event as well.
