Hulu subscribers can now enjoy four acclaimed films by South Korean director Bong Joon-ho. Parasite, the winner of four Academy Awards including Best Picture, is one of the films that can be streamed on the platform. Snowpiercer, a dystopian thriller set on a perpetually moving train, is also available. The film marks Bong’s first English-language feature and stars Chris Evans. Mother, a crime drama about a mother’s desperate efforts to prove her son’s innocence, and Barking Dogs Never Bite, a dark comedy about an apartment complex plagued by dog barking, complete the collection..
According to Decider, four of Bong Joon-ho’s films are available for streaming on Hulu, and one of them is the Oscar-winning Parasite, which took the world by storm this year when it swept up numerous accolades during award season.
Some of you might have not been able to watch Parasite, since it is a foreign film and it might have only been available for a limited screening where you live (and now cinemas everywhere are also closed), but now you will have a chance to on Hulu. Hulu’s exclusive streaming deal with the independent film production company Neon has allowed them to acquire these films.
Other Bong Joon-ho films available include Barking Dogs Never Bite, The Host and Mother. Barking Dogs Never Bite is Bong’s directorial debut, a dark comedy about an unemployed college professor, who is awaiting the birth of his child, and finds his patience waning when he has to hear the incessant noise of a dog barking somewhere in his apartment complex.
The Host is a gruesome horror film about a young girl who is snatched away from her father by a horrifying giant monster that emerges from the River Han in Seoul. After her capture, the entire family sets out to locate the beast and bring their little girl back home to safety.
Mother explores the mother-child relationship, a mother with an adult son (Do-joon) who is naive and depends greatly on her. One day, he follows a young girl for a while, until she disappears down a dark alley. The next day she is found dead and Do-joon is now a suspect. Mother has a stellar 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, so that seems worth checking out.
