Disney just released the official trailer for Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. The two embark on a quest to find a tree in the jungles of the Amazon that heals all, with Blunt’s character Dr Lily Houghton being the optimist and Johnson’s Frank skeptical that their journey will bear any fruit.
Not only might this trip be fruitless, it is definitely dangerous as well, since anything in the jungle “wants to kill you and can”. Well, if there’s anything Johnson knows, it’s the jungle, having starred in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017. To make matters worse, it’s not just the jungle out to get them, since we see Jesse Plemons’ character shoot a missile at their boat at one point in the trailer.
Jungle Cruise is loosely inspired by the Disney theme park ride, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, with Johnson being one of the producers for the film (which explains why he shared the trailer on his YouTube channel as well). It also stars Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall and Paul Giamatti. Considering the calibre of actors on board the project, it does seem like Jungle Cruise will be a roaring good time at the cinemas – Disney is after all the master of family adventure entertainment.
