With all of the additions made for the NY Giants offense, it’s easy to forget that general manager Joe Schoen released veteran receiver Kenny Golladay way back in March. Since then, we’ve heard basically nothing on the former $72 million man.

It turns out Golladay is still hoping to suit up this campaign, but he could potentially be doing so a little to close to home for the G-Men. According to Tom Pelissero, Golladay worked out with the Jets on Wednesday. Could he end up signing with Gang Green and catch balls from Aaron Rodgers in 2023? When former Giants GM Dave Gettleman signed Golladay to his four-year deal, Big Blue supporters had dreams of Kenny G turning into a WR1 for Daniel Jones. After his brilliant play in Detroit, it seemed like a smart investment by the Giants at the time.

That of course didn’t prove to be the case. Golladay was the textbook definition of a bust during his two campaigns in East Rutherford. In 2021, Golladay caught 37 balls for 521 yards and no touchdowns. Then last season, he posted six receptions for 81 yards and one TD, which came in the meaningless game vs. the Eagles in Week 18.

Golladay would finish with 43 receptions for 602 yards and a single score for the Giants. The writing was on the wall for him and Schoen wasted no time in parting ways with him this offseason. Perhaps a fresh start could help the WR get his career back on track, but please, don’t let it happen with the Jets.

Imagine if Golladay signs with NYJ and then all of a sudden becomes a big-time playmaker for Rodgers and Co. That would be brutal. Soon enough we’ll find out if the Jets put a contract on the table for the 6-4, 215-pounder, but a return to MetLife Stadium wouldn’t sit well with Big Blue Nation.
