Since I personally am from the swimming community, it has always been a major goal of mine to be permitted to use the Olympic microphone while standing at the pool’s edge. It genuinely amazed me that it worked in Tokyo. But there are always new objectives being introduced, like the World Cup of football. Still, I still get excited about a lot of sporting events. But not just for the athletes, the Olympic Games are the biggest.

There are coworkers at ZDF who don’t appear much in front of the camera but are always available and willing to offer me helpful advice. I’m not sure if it qualifies as a mentor, but I do receive comments from a few folks. My family and closest friends are included in this. They are occasionally fairly honest, but that is a good thing. Of course, there are people I enjoy emulating, but there isn’t just one. I don’t believe it is beneficial to imitate someone.

With the directors and technical coworkers, there is a tradition where we all wish each other a good show. Because “ZDF-Morgenmagazin” follows a routine, I’m no longer anxious about it. It becomes even more tingly if it’s something truly remarkable, like at the Olympics. In front of the microphone, Roger Federer would be someone I’d enjoy. I have to admit that the speed disciplines are what I’m most excited about. Great competitions and a tonne of snow are things I’m looking forward to. Nothing can prevent a fantastic World Cup if the sun is still shining and the weather remains nice for a while.
