Three people were killed and three more injured in a crash early Monday in Jersey City.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office reported the two-car crash on Paterson Plank Road at 2:32 a.m.
The crash happened on a winding section of Paterson Plank Road near Congress Street, a 25-mph area. Two cars were towed away around 7 a.m.
The cause of the crash and identities of the victims was not released Monday morning.
The prosecutor’s office advised commuters to avoid the area.
The collision occurred on a stretch of Paterson Plank Road that is a hill running from Jersey City Heights down to Hoboken where cars and trucks often speed. There is no median barrier.
It was the site of head on collision in May 2019 that killed Adriana Riano a 32-year-old nurse from North Bergen. Jonathan Ortiz-Guananga, 27 of Union City, pleaded guilty to death by auto charges in September 2020.
Riano had been a nurse at Hackensack University Medical Center and was working towards a master’s degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
