According to Variety, Warner Bros. has decided to push Tenet’s release date by another two weeks. Tenet’s initial release date was July 17, before the studio made the decision to move it to the end of the month. Now, Tenet will have a release date of August 12, 2020. Warner Bros. also plans to leave the film in cinemas for a longer timeframe, since attendance will be more spaced out as cinemas start reopening, especially if safe distancing rules are imposed.

The Inception re-release event, in celebration of its 10th anniversary, currently occupies the release date previously held by Tenet (July 17, 2020).

We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy.”
