Demon Slayer just keeps cutting its way into popularity, and its latest stab is with the new film Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village. With the movie taking the box office’s top spot in its opening weekend, the franchise’s future is looking brighter than ever.
However, some Demon Slayer fans might not have time to go to a theater and watch the film. It’s definitely more convenient to watch a movie in the comfort of your own home if you can. If you’re one of those fans, then fortunately, there will be a way to watch Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village online.
So far, it’s only been confirmed to come out on Crunchyroll. This isn’t really a surprise since the rest of the Demon Slayer series is also available on Crunchyroll. However, the previous movie, Mugen Train, was also made available on Netflix, so there’s a chance that they’ll also get Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village on their platform.
There’s no specific release date yet, but it should release after its run in the theaters. Mugen Train came to Crunchyroll a year after its theatrical release. But it likely won’t take as long for this film.
The reason is that Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village will also have a seasonal release in April 2023. Mugen Train came to Crunchyroll almost at the same time as its seasonal release. Hopefully, To The Swordsmith Village will do the same.
What Is Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village About?
The movie’s full title is actually Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- World Tour.
If you’ve already watched Demon Slayer’s Entertainment District Arc, the first part of the movie will include that arc’s finale. It will show the battle against the Upper-Rank Six demon siblings and their tear-jerking backstory.
The second part picks up right after that. It will feature Muzan enraged by the defeat of his Upper-Rank demons and calls for a meeting in Infinity Castle. If you recall the horror that Muzan showed during the meeting with the Lower Rank demons, imagine how he’ll react to losing an Upper Rank for the first time in a century.
Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, and Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, will also make an appearance in the movie as they will be major supporting characters throughout the arc.
The film will only include an extended version of the first episode of the arc. To watch the rest of the arc, you’ll have to wait for the new series to come out in April.
Do I Need To Watch Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village?
If you’ve been watching the Demon Slayer series and want to get the full experience, then you should absolutely watch Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village.
The original fight against Gyutaro and Daki was already a visual masterpiece, so you can only imagine what it would look like when upscaled and on the big screen.
It will also serve as a great recap in case it’s been a while since you watched the Entertainment District arc. The last part of the Entertainment District arc and the beginning of the To The Swordsmith Village arc are closely connected, so watching the film will act as a smooth transition into Season 3.
