It’s interesting, to say the least.
“Every generation has a legend.”
The trailer has a heavy focus on Rey, who seems to be in a spot of bother out in a desert before she does a very cool flip over the top of a ship.
We then cut to a ship flying through a very blue-hued expanse, followed by Kylo killing what looks like some kind of religious figure and the reformation of his helmet. Then Poe and Finn stand on some rocks and brood, quick shot of BB, oh damn that’s Lando, and some Indiana Jones type stuff going down in the desert again. Leia embraces Rey (judging from Rey’s tears and the colour palette, this must be some kind of Jedi connection following Leia’s death), then the gang looking out over a sea at what appears to be a destroyed Death Star.
Oh, and then Palpatine laughs. What?
So, a fair bit to unpack here from two minutes of footage. We hear Luke a lot throughout, which suggests he will be taking on the Obi-Wan role for The Rise of Skywalker. How about that title, too? Will Rey be unveiled as a Skywalker after all? What does Palpatine have to do with all this? We know it’s definitely him as Ian McDiarmid took to the stage at Star War Celebration to say “roll it back”.

UPDATE: I just remembered that Palpatine was technically already “brought back” in Battlefront 2, which is canon. Whereas that saw his messages being carried out by droids bearing his resemblance after his death (don’t ask), it looks like we are getting full fat (or ghost fat) Palpatine for The Rise of Skywalker.
We’ll find out what it all means this Christmas when Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters.
Everyone will definitely agree on if this one is good or absolute trash, yep.
