With the news that Warner Brothers isn’t going to have a Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, Patty Jenkins decided that Twitter will just have to do for the costume reveal. The director of the Wonder Woman sequel Wonder Woman 1984 tweeted a picture of Gal Gadot against a psychedelic background, looking absolutely fierce in her gold armour.

The marketing campaign for the movie will officially begin in December this year, just 6 months prior to the movie’s release date on June 4th, 2020. It is unclear as to the reason behind Warner Bros. sitting out the Hall H panel, though Screenrant speculates that competition from Marvel could have something to do with it, since they will be making an appearance at the event.

Jenkins was initially not contracted to direct the sequel, but given the success of Wonder Woman at the box office as well as with the critics, she was brought back into the fray – with a substantial raise to boot. Gal Gadot will reprise her role as the Amazonian warrior, with the even more surprising news of Chris Pine also returning to his role as Steve Trevor.

In a Screenrant article, Jenkins promises that the return of Steve Trevor is authentic to the narrative, not simply shoehorned in because he was such a well-liked character in the previous movie. His presence and the setting of the movie in the 80s does, however, serve to contradict certain things mentioned in the Justice League movie. Bruce Wayne tells Diana at one point that she has been hiding from the world since Trevor’s death, which she kind of admits to as well.
