allegation of fraud
Ravindra Mahajani was arrested by the police in Mumbai in 2003 for his involvement in fraudulent activities. Anil Damle, partner of Saraswati Cinema, filed a First Information Report (FIR) in 2002 stating that Ravindra and Anil had entered into an agreement. As per the agreement, Ravindra was to pay Anil Rs. 75,000 for screening his film Satte Sathi Kahihi at Prabhat Cinema Hall run by Saraswati Cinema for one month (four weeks). The agreement further provided that money collected from ticket sales would be deducted from this fee. If there was any excess money, it was given to the Mahajani, but if there was a shortfall, he was responsible for paying the Damle. After four weeks, it was found that Damle owed Rs. was due. 80,000. When Mahajani gave the check to Anil, it bounced. In January 2003, Mahajani was released on bail by a Mumbai court after furnishing a personal bond of Rs. 15,000 to a court in Maharashtra.

Death
Ravindra Mahajani passed away on 14 July 2023 due to unknown causes at his apartment in Zarbia Housing Society in Ambi village, Talegaon Dabhade district of Pune, Maharashtra. Pune police said Mahajani’s body was found in her rented apartment after neighbors informed the authorities about a strong smell coming from her flat. Officials revealed that Mahajani had been living in the leased flat for about eight to nine months and had recently undergone a surgical procedure, which limited his mobility. He also told that he had died two-three days before he was discovered. Talking about this in an interview, the police said,
We got a call from the neighbors of the flat where Mahajani was staying alone, telling us that a foul smell was emanating from their house. We went to the spot and broke open the door of the flat, where he was found dead. It is suspected that he died three days back.”
