Recycle BC is encouraging spectators to bring flexible plastics for a chance to participate in the Sharpshooter Challenge. This challenge aims to promote recycling and raise awareness about the importance of properly disposing of flexible plastics. Spectators can bring their flexible plastic items, such as single-use bags, packaging, or wrappers to the event. Participants will have the opportunity to test their targeting skills and aim these plastics into recycling bins. The initiative aims to educate and engage the public in sustainable practices and divert these materials from ending up in landfills or oceans..
VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC are back in MLS action on Sunday in a crucial match against San Jose Earthquakes, presented by Recycle BC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
Sunday’s match could mark the return of Sam Adekugbe, and the debut of fellow Canadian national team star Richie Laryea. It will also be the ‘Caps last match at BC Place until September 30, and they will leap the Quakes and move up in the standings with a win
Here are some important notes for fans heading to the match.

One Planet jerseys
Whitecaps FC will be wearing their One Planet jerseys by adidas. The jersey is made entirely out of Parley Ocean plastic. The repeating wordmark “End Plastic Waste” serves as a call to action uniting each club in the collective stewardship of our planet.
WFC2 doubleheader (2 p.m. PT)
Whitecaps FC 2 will kick off the day by playing Austin FC II .at 2 p.m. PT. Entrance will be through Gate A only at 1:30 p.m. PT.
Tickets to enter BC Place for the WFC2 matches are separate from the tickets for the MLS matches, and all spectators will be required to leave the stadium in-between matches.
WFC2 tickets can be purchased through Universe, priced at only $10. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets in advance. Season ticket members can access their complimentary tickets by using their account number as their access key at checkout. Youth 18 and under get in free.
The Warmup pre-match patio party
The final Warmup of the summer is happening on Sunday. The pre-match patio party begins at 4 p.m. PT on Terry Fox Plaza. Drinks start at $5. DJ Juice will be spinning tunes, facepainters will be on-site, and a Whitecaps FC player will be signing autographs from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. PT.
Gates
Gates A, C, H, E, G, and the Accessible drop-off/pick-up located along Pacific Boulevard at section 147 will all be open for entry starting at 6:30 p.m. PT. Gates for suite entry will open at 6 p.m. PT.
Kickoff is officially at 7:39 p.m. PT.
Player arrivals
Fans can meet their favourite ‘Caps players, take photos & get autographs. Interested fans should arrive by 5 p.m. (players will enter between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.) at the West entrance gate off Expo Boulevard, and look for the Whitecaps FC staff member to guide them into BC Place! Space is limited, so fans should arrive early.
Cheque presentation to League1 BC
Earlier this season, Vancouver Whitecaps FC pledged $1 from every ticket to the 2023 Canadian Championship final against CF Montreal to go to League1 BC. Prior to Saturday’s match, a cheque will officially be presented as Whitecaps FC continue to support the growth of the sport in British Columbia.

PlayNow Soccer Showdown
A few lucky fans at the match will be chosen to take part in the PlayNow Soccer Showdown, a halftime obstacle course. Fans in the stands can also predict the winner and enter to win a $250 food & drink voucher and a pitchside table to a future match.

Keep an eye out on Terry Fox Plaza before the match, in the concourse, and during the match at the top of sections 228/229 for the Hitmen Drumline.
$5 Menu!
BC Place has announced a new $5 menu this year, in collaboration with Sodexo Live!, including $5 beer, hot dogs, nachos, and popcorn. Limited-release items may appear on the menu throughout the year. The $5 Menu is available at Dawson’s Hot Dogs stands at sections 201 and 227.

Check out the RE/MAX Family Zone at section 226, featuring colouring at ‘Caps Clubhouse. If it’s your first match, don’t forget to stop by and pick up your certificate to commemorate the occasion.
Kids Combo
The Kids Combo at Dawson’s Hot Dogs (214 and 241) is $6.50 for a hot dog, chips, fountain soda. The Kids Combo at Lions Gate Grill (228 and 254) is $6.50 for chicken strip, fries and fountain soda.
Kid Captain
Whitecaps FC are honoured to have Matthew Burns from Special Olympics Team BC as Kid Captain for Sunday’s match against San Jose Earthquakes.
Matthew is a huge soccer fan and a successful multi-sport Special Olympics athlete! Currently, Matt is a member of the Special Olympics Team BC 2024 Training Squad. He earned a spot on this provincial team with his floor hockey team after they won gold at the last Special Olympics BC Winter Games. Matt has medalled at BC Games in swimming and track and field and also participates in Special Olympics soccer, basketball, and softball.

Supporters of the Match
Sunday’s supporters of the match are Andrea Kirk and her daughter Zoe from the Prawnsiders supporters group.
Andrea has been a Whitecaps FC supporter since 2013. She has been enjoying the current season due to the faster pace and the commitment of the team to control the play.
Her favourite part of being with the Prawnsiders is the camaraderie, and the constant stream of banter between people as the game progresses. It makes for a fun evening of watching their team play every time.

Clear bags/Bag Check
For ease of entry, Whitecaps FC and BC Place recommend you don’t bring a bag to the stadium. If you do bring a bag, make sure it’s made of clear plastic and smaller than 12”x12”x6”. Exceptions will be made for diaper bags and medically necessary items that do not fit into a clear bag. You can bring one small opaque bag, but it can’t be larger than 6.5”x 8.5”. All bags will be inspected prior to entry.
Mobile entry
All tickets for Whitecaps FC matches are through mobile ticketing, providing a contactless and paperless experience. Season ticket members and pack holders will need to access their tickets through whitecapsfc.com/accountmanager. Single match buyers will access their tickets through Ticketmaster.
Cashless transactions
In order to reduce the potential for hand-to-hand contact, and to improve the efficiency of payment transactions, BC Place is now a cashless venue. Concessions and food and beverage vendors will accept all major digital forms of payment including Mobile, Debit Cards, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Google Pay and Apple Pay. Cash payments will not be accepted. There will be a Cash to Card kiosk located at Sec 235 where guests can exchange cash for cards to use at the food and beverage locations throughout the stadium.
