Revealed: Ryan Reynolds’ Failed Bid for Wrexham Reveals $630,000 Trouble, Ending in Collapse before 12:30 AM – Top

The entire summer was quite busy for Wrexham AFC. While the players had already kicked off the new season, Ryan Reynolds was busy in the offices, searching for ways to bolster his squad. Although they had made offers for many players, their failed bid for a 2X Golden Boot winner was recently revealed.

During this summer, the Red Dragons managed to make seven new additions. They could have reached eight, but a significant $630,000 deal collapsed before 12:30 AM.

While drawing up a list of some best transfers that they wanted to sign, there was a surprise target in their minds. Interestingly, the club was keeping tabs on Peterborough striker, Jonson Clarke-Harris. This detail came out of the mouth of Peterborough’s chairman and owner Darragh MacAnthony. While revealing how Bristol Rovers narrowly missed out on re-signing Clarke-Harris, he eventually led to the disclosure that Wrexham had expressed interest in the striker. 

While speaking on his podcast ‘The Hard Truth,’ he said, “The week before, Wrexham had made calls about him and intimated that they were going to make an offer.” The Peterborough owner said that the Welsh side signing him is like an “automatic double promotion,” as he underlined Harris as a “goal machine.” 

He continued, “When they came in, I understood why. They can pay him a lot more than we can and that would be a stand-out signing for them. Then they just went completely quiet and dead. It was really weird.” Even after Wrexham held discussions with all the delegators within the club and Peterbougrh finalized the striker’s replacement, MacAnthony said, “And then they just went dead. It was really, really bizarre.” 

Indeed, it’s quite an interesting anecdote. Remarkably, this isn’t the first deal that didn’t take place as they also missed out on a $630,000 long-term target.

Wrexham’s notable signings include George Evans from Millwall and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo from Arsenal. However, their marquee signing was supposed to be Luke Armstrong; a striker from Harrogate, for whom Wrexham broke the bank with a record-breaking fee of $630,000. Unfortunately, despite both parties initially agreeing to an undisclosed fee of $435,000, the deal fell apart for the 27-year-old. This news followed an official statement issued by the third oldest club.

While refraining from further comment on the matter, Wrexham thanked the player for choosing them to join. Gaffer Phil Parkinson was disappointed by the turn of events as he had initially seen Armstrong as an ideal partner for Mullin. However, in an unfortunate twist of fate, all he could muster was – “That’s life and we move on.“ Indeed, it’s a significant setback for Reynolds and his team. They will now have to patiently await Mullin’s recovery to fill the No. 9 position.
