RIPTA (Rhode Island Public Transit Authority) held a holiday service on Columbus Day to accommodate people traveling on the day. The holiday service followed a Sunday schedule, meaning reduced service compared to regular weekdays. RIPTA announced that it would run buses on key routes throughout Rhode Island. However, some routes had different schedules or were cancelled altogether. The holiday schedule aimed to provide transportation options for those who needed to travel on the holiday, while still adjusting service to account for the lower demand typically seen on Columbus Day..
