The popular video game ‘Destiny 2’ has announced delays for two of its upcoming events due to a glitch. The events, Master Crota’s End and Checkmate Crucible, have been postponed in order to fix a superweapon glitch that was discovered. The glitch potentially allows players to use an unintended amount of power, affecting the balance of the game. The developers have chosen to delay the events to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all players. The new release dates for the events have not yet been announced..
Destiny 2 is in the middle of cutting of limbs and wrapping up wounds in gauze in order to try to fix its worst, most hilarious bug in history. Players discovered that they were able to craft different perks and frames onto various weapons that were not supposed to have them, resulting in absurdly overpowered combos like auto rifles shooting shotgun rounds or infinite ammo super RPM grenade launchers that spewed death like an AC-130.
Bungie’s first part of the fix has been to disable a number of exotics and specific perks from guns while they try to fix the issue and revert the “illegal” weapons, as they call them. But because everything has gotten so screwed up, Bungie has announced that they will be delaying the arrival of both Master Crota’s End and the new Checkmate Crucible mode which were set to launch today at reset.
They want to “protect the player experience” which now in the current state of the game, means no using superweapons that may have slipped through the cracks, or conversely, using weapons that now lack disabled perks, like how Incandescent has been stripped off everything I own, apparently.
There is no timeline on when these will in fact be launched, and the full fix for the superweapon bug is still in process, and has already been delayed a bit due to how complicated this all is. Bungie has been desperately trying to do this without just shutting the game off or rolling back progress. In fact they have already declared there will not be a rollback, which allowed players to farm to their hearts content with their autorifleshotguns, so they can’t really go back on that now.
As for the delay here, I will give it a collective shrug. There’s no urgent need to launch Master Crota’s End, a free raid that will exist in perpetuity, or until it’s deleted for Reasons. As for Checkmate Crucible, I’ve seen some people wonder why they’d bother delaying that, as it’s just a Crucible variant, but I think Bungie has put a lot of work in particular to this game type as they aim to dramatically reduce abilities and heavily increase gunfights due to the new structure of the mode, and they want to have it make a good first impression without broken or hamstrung weapons in play. I can understand that.
We’ll wait and see what the timelines are for the full fix and the actual launch of these, but for now, just normal story stuff at reset and no big launches.

Destiny 2 is dealing with a major bug that allows players to create overpowered weapons with absurd combinations of perks and frames. In order to fix the issue, Bungie has disabled certain exotics and perks while working on a solution. As a result, they have postponed the launch of Master Crota’s End and the new Checkmate Crucible mode. Bungie wants to protect the player experience and ensure a good first impression for the new game mode. There is no timeline for when the bug will be fully fixed, but Bungie is committed to resolving it without rolling back progress.
