The trailer showcases dazzling visuals, a captivating storyline, and an amazing portrayal of Wonder Woman by Gal Gadot. The film promises to deliver an exciting and action-packed experience, transporting audiences back in time to a nostalgic period. With its stunning visuals and nostalgic feel, Wonder Woman 1984 looks poised to be a worthy follow-up to the original film, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its release..
Warner Brothers just released the trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, and I have to give props to whoever made the trailer. There are snippets of action, it is scored to a remix of New Order by Blue Monday and the plot isn’t laid bare for us. Wonder Woman also swings her lasso from bolts of lightning, and if that isn’t bad-ass enough for you, I don’t know what is.
We have moved from the darker, bleaker setting of World War 1 to the more fun, colourful vibe of the 80s. It’s not all fun and games though, since the time period is also one that was defined by the Cold War. Warner Brothers offered a one-line summary of what to expect: “Diana Prince comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s and finds a formidable foe by the name of the Cheetah.”
The Cheetah is played by Kristen Wiig, who in the comics is the archenemy of Wonder Woman. The two share a conversation about being in love in the trailer, which is a nice girl talk moment, until we remember Wiig is playing the villain. Pedro Pascal rounds up the villainous crew as Maxwell Lord.
Chris Pine is back as Steve Trevor, though it is unclear how that happens. Wonder Woman 1984 offers a nice role reversal, where Gal Gadot’s Diana has to tell Steve about the world, while he was the one educating her in the previous movie. Wonder Woman 1984 lassos its way into theatres June 5, 2020.
